Event planning,
magazine LAYOUT
+ website
I had the privilege of directing a modern farmhouse, woodland creature themed baby shower. I lead in creative direction, coordination, sourcing, staging and photography. This event eventually expanded into a magazine spread and website as a personal project.
An important addition to this project was the nod to an old Korean tradition of stringing peppers along the threshold of the expecting home for baby boys. Ornamental pepper plants were hung at the threshold of the decorative tent to represent this historic tradition.
The TASK
Translating a physical event into print and website format while honoring the stylistic integrity from the event.
The LEARNINGS
Honoring the essence of a physical space digitally came from the following:
Magazine
1. Pairing the proper typeface families. Blending a san serif, serif and script has a classy yet modern appeal.
2. Maintaining color palette cohesion.
3. Amount of breathability/negative space.
Website
4. Pace of page. How does it scroll? How do the photos come in or fade out? What happens when the mouse hovers over an image?
These details functioning in harmony shaped the personality of the website.
